A Mother’s Wisdom

This book is a dedication to my late mother Carrie Bell Rogers. She passed away August 23, 2011. There has not been one day when I have not thought of my mother. Her death left a massive void in my life. My mother taught me a lot of valuable lessons through her unique wisdom. While I have had educators in college like Dr. Gary Sailes, or athletic coaches like Jerry Zent and Robert McDonald, or role models like Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, and Curt Flood who helped to shape my being, nothing compares to my mother’s wisdom. I utilize my mother’s wisdom on a daily basis because she simply made sense to me. My mother was a hybrid as she served several different roles in my life other than being my mother. She was my best friend, my teacher, and inspiration. She was the first and only person in life to date who showered me with unconditional love.

While my mother’s departure from this world left an indelible void in my life, she left me with wisdom that has allowed me to forge a productive life based upon, creativity, service, and achievement. To date, I have had a very unique and unusual life. This book, A Mother’s Wisdom, focuses on specific pieces of wisdom my mother taught me, while highlighting specific instances in my life, that forged my unique journey that showcases that anything is possible in this world. I can guarantee the reader will be moved by the graphic nature of my journey while simultaneously fostering a greater understanding of the man behind the words.
